ABOUT

The West Collective is a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and slow living. Founded in Australia in 2018 by Indian-Portuguese artist Patricia Fernandes, it brings together a lifelong passion for making beautiful, meaningful objects inspired by nature, heritage, and the rituals of everyday life.

At its heart, The West Collective is guided by a simple belief: that thoughtfully made objects and experiences can enrich our daily lives and help us reconnect with ourselves, our surroundings, and each other. Whether working with clay, flowers, botanical ingredients, or the garden, Patricia approaches each creation with the same intention—to bring beauty, purpose, and a sense of wonder into the everyday.

Patricia's creative journey began in 2009 after completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Ceramics, at Curtin University in Western Australia. She launched her eponymous ceramics label, drawing inspiration from her Indian heritage and a deep appreciation for colour, pattern, and traditional craftsmanship. Incorporating century-old Indian textile motifs into her work, she created Functionality, a vibrant collection of handmade porcelain dinnerware designed to elevate everyday rituals around food, drink, and gathering.

For more than seventeen years, Patricia has created distinctive ceramic pieces for customers across Australia and internationally, including commissioned collections for fine dining restaurants and cafés. Her work transforms ordinary moments into memorable experiences, celebrating the beauty found in daily rituals and human connection.

The West Collective also became home to a number of creative ventures, including @Fresh Fix Flowers, offering seasonal floral arrangements and thoughtful gift stationery, and @Let's Be Honest Skincare, a small-batch skincare brand centred on natural ingredients and skin wellbeing. Its hero product, Salvation Balm, became a favourite among artists, makers, and creatives for its nourishing and restorative qualities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Patricia embraced a slower and more intentional way of living. By reconnecting with nature, growing flowers, fruit, and vegetables, and finding inspiration in the changing seasons, she deepened her commitment to living and creating with purpose. These experiences continue to shape The West Collective today.

More than a brand, The West Collective is an invitation to slow down, embrace creativity, and find beauty in the everyday. It is a place where art, nature, heritage, and mindful living come together—where simple moments become meaningful, and where beauty is woven into daily life.

Welcome to our world.
